Bioethanol is really organic?
If bioethanol is described as a bio fuel revolutionary "clean", some think it is not the best ecological alternative but the best alternative to earn money always forthcoming despite the lack of oil, and that the particle "bio" of the word ethanol is in fact communication intended to give consumers a clear conscience.
Indeed, if the use bioethanol reduces significantly the production of greenhouse gases, its production is far from rosy:
- transformation into ETBE (Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether), which currently uses most of the production of bioethanol using toxic products such as sulfuric acid and a large amount of energy so the energy balance is almost as bad than for conventional fuels, and a record far worse than other major biofuels such a EMVH or EEVH. This energy is indeed obtained in part by nuclear and fossil energies .....
- bioethanol production will require an intensive agricultural production will require significantly increase the pollution of our soil to blow fertilizers and other pesticides. Similarly the demand for new fields will often at the expense of forests.
- The shortage of food in poor countries will not reduce the price of some foods has begun to rise in some countries like Brazil or Mexico. Consumption by the rich countries would once again on the backs of the poor countries.
- Once the ethanol extract of the plants' remains, which would most likely be treated as normal as not intended for consumption, may be converted into fertilizer or animal feed and therefore have a potential impact on our health.
- According to several studies, ethanol production is a process having a negative energy ratio.
Brief bioethanol would according to this theory that a cost-effective way to replace oil, not an ecological alternative.
